What’s New in Academic Computing Services?
Fall 2006

“Individual User Logins are Here!”

All students, faculty and staff will now be using their Xnumber and Password to login to any computer located in the labs, classrooms, library and SRC. This new system will allow Academic Computing to more efficiently monitor access to campus computers and maintain the systems for maximum usability.

“Print Accounting Limits Waste!”

Academic Computing has implemented a print accounting system provided by PaperCut. This automated print system will assign each user an initial allotment which will be automatically debited when they print on any lab or library computer. Users will be able to monitor their print status via a convenient pop-up window on any Mac or PC. Academic Computing will use the system to remind each user how much they are printing in order to limit waste. Initially PaperCut will only be used for b/w laser prints in the labs and library and not for color printing services.
